Gym Bag Essentials

Welcome back to my blog! In this post I will be listing a number of items you should consider bringing with you in your gym bag. This isn't an exhaustive list, just a couple of ideas, and there will obviously be certain items specific to you or your workout that you should also bring with you.

1) Water bottle

Need I even explain this one? Starting with undoubtedly the most obvious gym bag essential, water is a must for the gym. No matter what workout you've got planned, any form of exertion dehydrates the body. Without replenishing, your body will find it more difficult to regulate temperature - in turn causing a rise in body temperature and heart rate. This leads to you feeling more fatigued, which isn't ideal during a workout. In short, just drink your water.

2) Suitable shoes

In the gym, there isn't really a 'one size fits all' when it comes to shoes Different workout = different footwear. Cardio workouts such as treadmill running, a HIIT class etc would be best suited to a pair of soft-soled trainers, allowing you to feel that extra spring in your step. Weight training, however, may be better in a pair of flat, hard-soled shoes, such as Converse, as they provide more stability - crucial in certain exercises such as squats. Depending on your plans before or after your workout, you may not arrive at the gym in the best shoes for your workout, so I would recommend bringing them in your bag instead.
